Morocco is undergoing positive development in the field of education, living standards and human rights in recent years, but there are still many places which suffer from high poverty, illiteracy and low government interest charge of their inhabitants. One of them is Atlas mountains, where are hundreds of villages and hamlets, which are practically forgotten due to poor access and low importance for the economy of the country. There is a 90% illiteracy, extreme poverty and also very harsh natural conditions. In the summer the whole area is barren, arid wasteland. In the winter starts stiff frost and snow, so the villages are cut off from the rest of the world.
In the past three years, the Moroccan government gradually built schools in larger villages, which at present the first generation of children is attending. Children are enthusiastic and teachers who come here, they have full support of local residents. However, there still remains much problems to be solved. Therefor ARGANIA.CZ during our travels for Argan oil began to cooperate with the Czech civic project AtlasyAtlasu and in coordination with local teachers we are helping to bring some warm winter clothing, school supplies and equipment for schools and children of Atlas.
